Rebecca Schwartzstein is a 22 year old artist from East Brunswick, New Jersey. She received her BFA in Fine Arts from School of Visual Arts in New York City. During her years studying in New York, Rebecca displayed her work in several shows and galleries, including the National Arts Club in Gramercy Park. She is currently attending Kean University for her masters in Art Education.
Rebecca's preferred medium is oil paint. She specializes in portraiture that accentuates features to describe the subject's personality. Her choice of color is important to the subject of the painting as well as the overall composition, as it conveys different moods and ties the work together. Her paintings often begin with a blind contour drawing in which she configures the composition without looking at the canvas. The result is a disproportionate, skewed drawing that she renders with oil paint. Rebecca loves depicting her close friends and animals but is not limited to one subject matter.
